However, restrictions were lifted today and Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who addresses the faithful every Friday was also released from house detention. Friday prayers were offered at Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Srinagar today after being disallowed during past three weeks by the authorities. Restrictions were imposed in Nowhatta where Jamia Masjid is located during past three weeks. However, restrictions were lifted today and Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who addresses the faithful every Friday was also released from house detention. In his address, Mirwaiz slammed the authorities for imposing restrictions and disallowing prayers at the historic mosque.Mirwaiz also took a dig at the government for social media gag order against its employees.
